Are you just a PR company? No, we have specialist skills and expertise in all forms of scientific marketing communications, including advertising, direct mail, sales support literature, and websites. This means that, together with PR, we can work with you to develop successful integrated marketing programmes – the best way to increase awareness and leads

How well do you understand my market? We’re fully immersed in the life science and healthcare industries and our experience in these sectors goes back 25 years. Through our large network of colleagues, clients, contemporaries, suppliers and friends we always know what’s going on – but we don’t rest on our laurels. As well as reading the trade press and speaking with our current clients, we go to numerous events at home and abroad, all of which means that we really know what’s going on.

Can you handle international campaigns? Yes, most of our work is international. Here are some of our international facts:

  • Five of our largest clients are not based in the UK and we undertake Worldwide or European marketing programmes for them
  • Our database has all the relevant international English-language media with up-to-date details and we spend a great deal of time and effort keeping this updated and fresh. We also have German and French publications and some Italian and Spanish. Working with these publications requires translation of any text
  • We estimate that 60-70% of the journals for which we write are international
  • Every year we go to around 10+ international shows in our areas of expertise, split between the US and Europe. This allows us to keep up our face-to-face profile with the international media. We meet with UK media in dedicated meetings and at UK shows

How good are your media contacts? Excellent. We say this with conviction as we spend a great deal of time and effort meeting the media face-to-face at events and dedicated meetings. Of course we are also in daily email and telephone contact with the media as well.

What makes you different? We spend more time building close relationships with our target media than you’d expect of a similar agency and our market knowledge is second to none. On top of this we’re extremely flexible, proactive, top-notch project managers, so we deliver what we say we’re going to deliver. Finally we’re friendly and easy to work with – there are no “prima donnas” at Alto Marketing!

How much do you charge? Our flexibility means that we can put together a communications programme for almost any budget. That’s why we are able to work billion dollar multi-nationals, and start-up companies with a handful of staff.
How much/little you ask us to do is up to you, so you keep full control over costs. Our charging structures are flexible to suit your requirements:

  • on an hourly basis
  • by project – quoted and agreed in advance
  • by retainer– fee agreed in advance

Can you write in detail about scientific subjects? Yes, this is what we do – and love doing – really well. That’s why all our communications team have all got scientific backgrounds, including four PhDs on staff.

Aren’t you too small/big for us? Flexible team size and cost structure are the keys to ensuring that we can provide an excellent service to both billion dollar multi-nationals and start-up companies alike. And for times of peak activity, we have a team of established, experienced freelancers that we can call upon if required.
